About the role:

This is a dynamic, fast paced and busy role with significant variety and scope to be creative and connect with the hearts and minds of our communities.

As our Senior Designer – Communications, you will be part of the senior leadership team and lead design of the organisation’s key initiatives which are varied and interesting.

You will be working with an organisation of changemakers to identify communication design needs to provide high quality and effective digital communication resources.

Key responsibilities include:

  • strategic planning to work out how all design elements across the various organisational initiatives fit together and tell a story of community transformation
  • bringing stories of systems change and impact to life in a way that compels people to engage with the content, particularly Māori, Pacific and South Auckland communities.  This also includes key stakeholders and customers of the organisation, including a clinical and provider network, local business and funding partners.
  • Managing and leading a team of up to five designers, graphic design, illustration and animation staff to deliver on a broad range of projects across brand, campaign, social, web, print and other media.
  • Working alongside the Communications team and Special Projects to create compelling cases for change, pitch kits, branding and marketing activities.
  • proactively working with other senior leaders to identify opportunities for new ways of working and design-led action to amplify the voices and experiences of underserved communities.
  • Keeping up to date with key developments and innovation in design.

 

You will need:

  • 5+ years of senior commercial, in-house or agency experience in graphic design and/or digital communications.
  • an in-depth understanding of the lived realities of the target community group.
  • a well-rounded toolkit with research and product design methods.
  • ability to form high level ideas and design strategies and being able to translate these in to products that resonate and create lasting impact.
  • To be agile, and actively enjoy working and being a part of a supportive and creative team
