Angeline McQuarrie

Angeline is of Australian and Samoan (Tutuila/American Samoa) heritage. Her parents lived in Fiji where she and her older brother were born before they moved to NZ where her two younger brothers were born, and resided in Papatoetoe.
What led you to working at The Cause Collective?
I had been working for a Māori Health and Social Services organisation but was keen to apply my skillset in a Pasifika focused organisation in South Auckland.
Who inspires you and why?
My parents, because they had a wonderful happy marriage, despite barriers and opposition way back then.
What is your current role?
Executive Assistant – which means everything from assisting the CEO to picking up/cleaning up the office!
What is your vision for health and wellbeing in South Auckland?
Self-determination.
What is one funny/quirky/interesting thing that no-one knows about you?
I continue to travel on a Fijian passport…. and was once thrown out of Canada (at the border), because I didn’t realise I needed a visa to get in.
