Fusi grew up in Mt Roskill as a first generation New Zealand born Tongan. Fusi’s mum is from Tungua Haapai and dad is from Uiha Haapai.
What is your current role?
“I am a Systems Innovator. I support the project team in different initiatives, connecting with the community and providing system level thinking to our initiative.”
What led you to working at Healthy Families South Auckland?
“I grew up with high aspirations of becoming a doctor because I thought I could help as many people as I can if I was Dr Fusi. Heading into tertiary studies I discovered the prevention system and its imperative role in the wider health system. This to me made perfect sense of where I want my career to focus on which is on preventing preventable health issues in our communities and families. I am blessed to work on the Healthy Families platform because it takes prevention systems work to next level as they now focus on scaling!”
What projects are you currently working on and what impact do they have on the community?
“I am working in the One Love space looking to regenerate community groups by empowering them and ensuring the system can respond to currently realities they face.”
What is your vision for health and wellbeing in South Auckland?
“South Auckland people create their own health and wellbeing and not dictated by the system.”
Who inspires you and why?
My ancestors – They were intuitive, intelligent and quick-witted people.
What is one funny/quirky/interesting thing that no-one knows about you?
I have a shy personality but when I hear a jam I love- my feet won’t stop moving!
Who is your favorite Superhero and why?
Black Panther because what he stands for and his values he portrays.
What is your super power?
